Out & About On A Gorgeous Spring Day!

I am sitting at the Salem’s Saturday market on a gorgeous Saturday morning!! I can hear the soft music of someone playing a saxophone. Somewhere in the distance you can hear a jazz quartet starting play. It is beautifully haunting and at the same time the perfect soundtrack for this outing. The scents of freshly baked breads, kettle corn and all sorts of culinary delights are wafting through the air. There is a cool breeze which is cutting down on the harshness of the noonday sun that I am thoroughly enjoying as I sit here at this little café table under the shade of a tree.

At the market, you have your choice of freshly cut flowers, plants galore, handcrafted jewelry, handmade toys, soaps, and art. There is a magic in the air that is quite exhilarating.

People are walking around, taking in all of the sights, and sounds, and smells. It is looking like the chic place to be this Saturday morning!! There is talking, laughing, dogs barking, and merchants selling their wares. A little girl skips by in her light pink, sparkling princess slippers – How cute. Couples, grandparents, college students, families, owners walking their pets, pets walking their owners, and little kids milling about pointing out all of their curiosities to their mommies and daddies.  There are children looking as if they just walked off of the pages of a magazine in their perfectly little coiffed outfits. A woman passes by in red ruby slippers, looking as chic and effortless as humanly possible. There are people who look like they sun too much, and others who appear to not sun enough. There are people of every shape and size, color, culture, ethnicity, income class, and all in the purpose of a similar goal – enjoying this perfect Spring day!

This place is making me fall in love my little city all over again. – I just love the Saturday market. I should get out here more often, have a freshly baked baguette for breakfast, walk home with a large bouquet of fresh spring flowers and feeling like all is right with the world, because for just this brief snapshot in time, it is.
