A Corner of My Own!

A Corner of My Own!

Every woman should have a place in their home where they can escape the hustle, bustle, and sometimes craziness of their lives. It doesn’t take much to create this little slice of heaven in your own home – the hardest part will be getting your

Monday’s Book Review!

Monday’s Book Review!

As the self proclaimed “Queen of Christinaville” I was excited about stumbling across the book called “Queen of Your Own Life: The Grown-Ups Woman’s Guide to Claiming Happiness and Getting the Life You Deserve.” This small tome was written by Kathy Kinney (you may remember her as Mimi on the Drew Carey Show), and Cindy Ratlaff.

Now, I am no stranger to the world of “self-help” books, so the messages in this book are by no means revolutionary, however being a firm believer that mastery is achieved through repetition, this is a book that can be happily read knowing that these concepts will help you take charge of your life.

Sprinkled with personal stories, creative analogies, lots of motivating quotes, and a ton of laughter, this book presented this well-loved information in a fun and interesting way that kept me engaged every step of the way.

I would highly recommend getting your hands on this book to read and then pass along to one of your Ladies In Waiting (or your LIW, as the book calls these dear friends) to share the laughter. Better yet, purchase 2 copies, take your favorite lady in waiting (LIW), snag a comfy chair at your local coffee shop, kick off your shoes, and spend the afternoon giggling away on some queenly humor.

“Shared joy is double joy. Shared sorrow is half sorrow.”

– Swedish Proverb

I am an avid reader, and every Monday I will try and share a different book that I have read in the hopes that I might motivate someone to read something that they might not have read otherwise. All of my reviews will be solely based on my own opinion, and as always, I will be very happy to hear your thoughts in the comments section.

Have a FABULOUS evening!!

Sunday Evening!

Sunday Evening!

I had a pretty rough evening, but instead of wallowing in my moody blues, I decided to get out of the house and I found myself walking down at the riverfront park. It was just what I needed to help clear my head, extremely therapeutic.

Out & About On A Gorgeous Spring Day!

Out & About On A Gorgeous Spring Day!

I am sitting at the Salem’s Saturday market on a gorgeous Saturday morning!! I can hear the soft music of someone playing a saxophone. Somewhere in the distance you can hear a jazz quartet starting play. It is beautifully haunting and at the same time

I Am…Marianne Dashwood!

Marianne Dashwood!

I am Marianne Dashwood of Sense & Sensibility! I am impulsive, romantic, impatient, and perhaps a bit too brutally honest. I enjoy romantic poetry and novels, and play the pianoforte beautifully. To boot, my singing voice is captivating. I feel deeply, and love passionately.

All possible results: Elinor Dashwood, Marianne Dashwood, Elizabeth Bennet, Fanny Price, Emma Woodhouse, Catherine Morland, Anne Elliot

My Big Date!

My Big Date!

I picked up an extremely handsome man this evening! He is extremely handsome, large blue eyes,  a daredevil, and extremely tall – well at least for a 4 year old!!!  Yes, I said 4 year old! No, I am not some crazy pervert – tonight

This is Soooo Me!!!

This is Soooo Me!!!

If there could ever be a commercial to see who I really am, even as an adult – this would be it!!! My husband pointed this FABULOUS commercial out to me. What do you think?? He said it is how he imagined I must’ve been

Eclipse!

Eclipse!

I got home today and I was pleasantly surprised to see that I had an Oprah show recorded, and it was a pleasant surprised because Oprah had the Eclipse cast on!! YEAH!!! I am soooo excited to see the new movie, I hear that it is very true to the book. The books were great! Even if people think that the books weren’t truly literary masterpieces, I think that one thing that the books did do, was to re-awaken our love of romance!! and really, who couldn’t use a little more romance in their lives??? I love living vicariously through this obsessive little series. It is such a great way to escape and relive the passion that accompanies first love.

Anyway, later I had a slight catastrophe in my kitchen this evening. I was cooking some brown rice in a rice cooker that was in the microwave, and I am not sure what I did wrong, but the next thing I know my kitchen smells badly of burnt popcorn! I ran to the kitchen to see what was happening, and OMG there is smoke pouring out of my microwave!!! The rice dish has melted in the microwave, and I will never get it out of there!!! UGH!!! So, now I will be shopping for a new microwave!! LOL! I just hope the burn smell leaves soon, it is causing a terribly bad headache!!! LOL!!

Have a fabulous evening!!!

Oh, by the way, I am totally Team Edward!!

Today’s Random Dancing Thought!

Today’s Random Dancing Thought!

Sometimes I wish that life could have moments of random dancing. Like sitting in a boring staff meeting, and all of the sudden someone calls out “RANDOM DANCING”, disco lights appears, accompanied by fun music, and EVERYONE in the room gets up and starts shaking
